diatribes on terminology
at first
it was he
the old blue
a little timid
he’ll grow up
then it was she
in a flash of silver
and a sea of red
she faced a new beginning
then, it was both
an odd shade -
pink or purple
ethereal
finally, there it was
empty
but if it finds the right day
the sun will shine through
refracting all of it
shade to shade
Abridgement
It starts with a whisper
Somewhere back
In the tumbling cacophony
A whisper that something is wrong
The days go by and it grows
Burning through the mind
A denial of everything you knew
Forthright, strident, honest
And it grew until
the moment
where it came to me
to find itself
to find it’s heart
really beating
love poem
A confident smile
without a face
Holding me together
Without a loving touch
Hair shaved
Or maybe shoulder length
Comforting words
Exist only as echoes
I’m so glad I met you
But I wish you were here
weather balloon
down, down
down to that strange world
beyond your humanity
there lies creatures
of unknown power
but they’ll be no match
strange world, strange people
prodding and poking, it hurts
an unusual makeup
past our understanding
of Man as we know it
it cannot be trusted
this world is foreign to it
and it can’t handle the pain
who else is out there?
this sin against natural law
it that mocks our dominance
we must stand vigilant
no one is coming for it
maybe it should all end
Your reports were wrong,
Gentlemen
It was only a weather balloon.
